Statement of a group of teachers, university members, civil and political activists in objection to the detention of
Mr. Jafar Ebrahimi Azandariani


On the verge of the presidential election, we were informed that Mr. Jafar Ebrahimi Azandariani, a former activist of Tahkim Vahdat General Council and present activist for Teacher’s Union Association has been detained in connection to his activities for vindication of teacher’s rights on Wednesday 10.06.09.

After numerous follow ups, his family were informed that he has been arrested by Information Ministry agents and he is presently held at section 209 of Evin prison.

We, the undersigned, while expressing our full support for the family of Mr. Ebrahimi, are requesting for his release at the soonest.
